What are the benefits of Resveratrol?

Is it true that Resveratrol can make you look younger?

Well, it is a fantastic antioxidant that is also good for cardiovascular health, but that's about it. After all, Resveratrol is Resveratrol no matter which company sells it as long as that company is legit and has good quality.
You can get it from any health food store (GNC, Whole Foods, etc) and many other places, but I would be careful about online ads for it (as the "free trials" are hardly ever free since they have to get you to pay for it somehow) and any spammers who reply to questions like this and tell you to go to their website.

Unfortunately, Resveratrol is one of a few high powered antioxidants that are fads right now and when there is a fad, there are always people and companies that take advantage of that popularity and sell their own piece of it. The unfortunate part is that too many of those people/companies make baseless claims in order to sell their product faster and for higher prices.
It's best to get a product like this from a company that you know and/or trust. If you'd like, I can also point out a few companies out there if you can't find any in your local area.

As far as looking younger, that's a rather speculative claim that many of the spammers make, but there is little (if any) evidence that it does that. I have heard of many claims and theories that free radicals cause visible signs of aging and antioxidants defend against those free radicals, but I have yet to see any proof that free radicals specifically cause the visible signs of aging (especially since those can come from so many sources). I wouldn't count on it to help you maintain your youth, but there is evidence that daily moisturization helps keep the skin healthy and able to minimize some of those signs of aging. ;-)
Good luck and I hope I helped!

You Complete Guide to resveratrol Benefits

Life is busy for most people. We take shortcuts with eating, nutrition, sleep, and just generally don’t have time to slow down. A positive solution to help us keep up with life's demands is a well balanced supplement to help your body stay healthy. Using a supplement such as Resveratrol benefits your general health, as well as providing help and support for specific ailments.

Specific Resveratrol Benefits

The most important benefit of Resveratrol is its high potency as a super antioxidant. Known to have 50 times more antioxidant power than lemons and most other fruits, Resveratrol helps fight and combat cellular damage within our bodies.

Current Research on Resveratrol

Resveratrol was originally discovered in the 1940s, but more recently has been recognized as being beneficial to human health. Current research is fast discovering the benefits of Resveratrol for assisting with disease and longevity for humans. Scientists and doctors are further investigating and researching their initial discoveries of Resveratrol benefits, such as:

- Weight Loss: Resveratrol helps the body reduce the number of fat cells and increase muscle mass. By also acting as an appetite suppressant, Resveratrol offers a natural option for many people who need a weight loss boost.

-  Protection from Cellular Damage: Not only does Resveratrol assist the body in repairing cellular damage, continued use can also prevent further damage and protect the body from damage and disease. This also applies to illnesses such as cancer, which is caused by cellular mutation. Resveratrol works to fight against the spread and existence of mutated or sick cells within the body.

- Protection for the Heart and Cardio System: Studies have shown that Resveratrol assists with reducing the oxidation of LDL or “the bad†cholesterol within the body. It is also shown to lower the blood levels of LDL. This is largely beneficial in fighting heart disease and artery blockages.

How to Live to be 110 Years or More: 2 Life Extending Secrets

How to Live to be 110 Years or More: 2 Life Extending Secrets

21st Century Exciting Scientific Discoveries to Get You Another 10 to 30 years of Healthy Living.

1. Reducing the amount of Calories you consume daily for your lifestyle and body type is one proven way to add an additional 30% of living to your life. Both animal and human studies have shown that people who eat a healthy balanced diet of the proper nutrients as discussed in this book but who are still able to manage to cut their caloric intake by 20% to 25% put less wear and tear on their body. Most importantly for longevity, restriction in caloric intake helps increase your telomeres ability present in your cellular DNA structure to be able to increase the number of times that your cells are able to reproduce. However, for many people dramatically reducing calories is not a practical method nor even a desired method of living because the amount of sacrifice that is seen as required is not practical or worth it. In fact, most people say that if they feel as if they will always feel hungry and can’t reasonably and moderately enjoy the food they like when they reasonably want it then they would just as soon live a shorter life. This is why the longevity extension benefits of resveratrol (discussed shortly below), is so appealing.

Want to cut your risk of premature death by one-half?

The less fat carried in your belly, the longer you will live. New studies of over 360,000 Europeans in 9 countries show that for every 2” of additional fat in your waist circumference measurement that you carry around in your stomach area, (the visceral fat surrounding liver/intestinal area), that you increase your risk of premature death by up to 17%. For most men, a dangerous level of fat is a waist larger than 40 inches and for women 34”. “Excess belly fat doubles your risk of premature death (heart disease, hypertension stroke and cancer.)”  Parade Magazine, Jan. 2009, pg 8. Sensibly reducing unhealthy excess caloric intake along with a regular daily exercise program can do wonders for your health and longevity expectations.

Longevity alternatives to accomplish the same longevity goals that reduced caloric benefit offers but without the sacrifice.

I particularly practice the next life extending suggestion as adding extra resveratrol to your diet is both easy, relatively inexpensive and can also help extend your life for up to 30% of healthy extra years. Note: I even give resveratrol daily to our dog and most people, because he is so active and frisky, can’t believe he’s 12 years old.

The Incredible Longevity Secret of Resveratrol!

2. Health & Longevity Tip number 2. Get more Resveratrol (from red grapes) into your body. Recent animal research has documented the advantages of supplementing daily with Resveratrol a nutrient derived from red grapes and red wine as well as from the plant, Japanese knotwood. Human clinical studies are also underway validating resveratrol as a substance that can help increase telomeres being able to divide by up to 30% or more which means that along, with living a healthy lifestyle, each person reading this book has the ability of living up to 30% or more extra years by just taking resveratrol supplements daily and by eating and living a healthy lifestyle. A great source of both Resveratrol and arterial health supporting Pomegranate is a product called PomResGo at www.doctorgreens.com

Note: an interesting scientific observation regarding resveratrol is that in animal studies, some researchers and the media press have on occasion misleadingly reported no resveratrol longevity benefits when resveratrol was given to young rats approximately age 3 months to 1 years. However, when resveratrol was given to older rats one to two years old then for this older rat population an up to 30% increase in longevity was observed and these older rats far out lived those same age older rats not given resveratrol and were healthier as well.

Thus, it is likely to be proved that resveratrol (in subsequent ongoing human studies) for longevity enhancing purposes, is particularly far more beneficial when resveratrol supplementation is begun at a more advanced human age, by age of 30 and at any age beyond that rather than age 18. Moreover as discussed earlier, nutritional science is showing there are many other beneficial cellular and immune system benefits of resveratrol and resveratrol type antioxidants like pomegranates,  grape seed extract and red grapes, Green Tea, vegetables, greens and fruits etc…regardless of age.

Why Aren't You Using Resveratrol Supplements?

Most people don't realize this but the best way to get resveratrol benefits is by getting it from resveratrol supplements. What you are probably are thinking is -- Why?

First, a little history. Although we have known about its existence for decades it was a 2006 Harvard study along with numerous others that have unearthed the numerous resveratrol benefits. These include protection against age-related diseases such as cancer, diabetes 2, atherosclerosis, and Alzheimer's.

How does it work?

This is accomplished in two ways.

1] Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants that suppress the negative effects of the natural oxidation in our bodies.

2] This is where it gets interesting. resveratrol imitates calorie restriction in our diets. Studies as far back as World War 2 have shown that reducing calorie intake in organisms as diverse as yeast and mammals has an anti-aging effect. In humans and mammals this is done through a family of genes called Sirtuins. Although research is still on going, the first of these, Sirt 1, is what we now believe at least partially responsible for cell regulation. This includes stabilizing and repairing DNA molecules thus preventing cancer from forming. Sirt 1 also slows down the cell and tissue changes related to aging.

In other words, Sirt 1 thinks that there are fewer calories even if it is an illusion; but it doesn't seem to matter because the anti-aging and anti-disease process is started anyway.

Why is a supplement better?

What we are dealing with here is a natural plant antibiotic from the flavonoid family derived chiefly from red wine, red grape seeds and skins and to a lesser extent mulberries and peanuts. Multiple studies have indicated that somewhere between 10-50 mg per day is ample for most of us. Unfortunately we will not get any where near that amount unless we drink 10-20 bottles of wine or constantly munch on grape skins.

In addition, there is a lot we not know about flavonoids as a group but one thing that is agreed on is that they don't work alone. Even if you get some of them through natural foods you would still miss out on others that would be needed to get the full effect.

What are the best resveratrol supplements?

It is possible and desirable to take it as part of a balanced vitamin/nutrient plan. Our supplement should contain 10-50 mg, be from natural sources [look for the word trans] and have a high potency [50% of active ingredients is the best]. When combined with the right antioxidants, enzymes and vitamins we will have a powerful life extending cocktail.

However, if you are new to this and don’t know how best resveratrol can help you in combating ailments, read along and find out what it means. It could very well prove extremely beneficial for you too.

Resveratrol is an active ingredient that comes from the Japanese Knotweed plant. This plant grows abundantly in Japan. In fact, Japanese calls this plant ko-jo-kon. It was firstly discovered in the Japanese territory in the late 1900s.

The thing that makes this plant very special is its resveratrol content. It is high in this active ingredient. In fact, it is presumed to be a plant that has marvelous healing power. Who could blame those who perceive this plant that way?

You see, resveratrol is a potential compound that acts as an anti-oxidant, anti-mutagen and anti-inflammatory. There are only a few compounds in the world that perform these three amazing functions and one of them is resveratrol.

The anti-oxidant properties of this ingredient are crucial to the enhancement of your body system. These anti-oxidants fight against the free radicals in the environment which are commonly known as pollutants.

Resveratrol is also a natural anti-inflammatory substance. It is believed to be good for those who are at the risk of heart disorders.

The question now is where to get resveratrol from.

Apart from the Japanese Knotweed plant, experts discovered that resveratrol are also contained in grapes, red wine, purple grape juice, peanuts, cranberries, blueberries, mulberries and raspberries. In fact, studies show that the skin of grapes contains a high content of resveratrol.

Health experts suggest that you consume red wine every now and then. Red wine contains more resveratrol than white wine. In fact, it is the one of the best resveratrol sources in town.

The Cancer Cure/resveratrol Link

If you're interested in the cancer cure/resveratrol link there's good news. Science is on the way to showing the beneficial effects on cancer. But don't wait 10 or more years to try it for yourself, take the worlds best nutritional supplements with 32 mg of resveratrol per tablet.

It is not only the Resveratrol and prostate cancer link which is cause all the excitement but many others too such as helping with Alzheimer's and diabetes. All this is especially great news for men, that we can potentially fight off this increasingly common disease.

Research suggests resveratrol not only reaches its intended target, injuring the nexus of malignant cells, but at the same time protects normal tissue from the harmful effects of radiation. Yes, you have a double therapeutic gain as it makes tumor cells more sensitive to radiation, and makes normal tissue less sensitive!

One study concerning Resveratrol prostate cancer treatment and prevention combined the antioxidant with other phytochemicals found in the skins of muscadine grapes. They called it muscadine grape skin extract or MSKE for short.

Muscadines (Vitis rotundifolia), are a particular grapevine species native to the present-day southeastern United States that have been cultivated extensively since the 16th Century.

Muscadine grape vines are largely immune to fungus, nematodes and bacteria and insects rarely cause any damage. Resveratrol from muscadine grapes is widely believed to cure prostate cancer. Resveratrol has many healing properties and Muscadine grapes, where it is found in abundance, were used in laboratory tests.

The antioxidant properties of the muscadine grapes have now come to the fore. It is perhaps the best fruit made available to humans for protection against a dozen ailments.

In addition, there are a group of nutrients that work in "synergy" with resveratrol to provide the greatest anti-cancer effects. These same anti-cancer affects can help protect the body from heart disease and other life-threatening diseases, in which chronic inflammation plays a role.

You should also look for one that contains Saw Palmetto, lycopene, nettle root, zinc and red clover, both of which support the prostate's health. In order to get the most from Resveratrol and prostate cancer prevention provided by it, be sure that the supplement has an enteric coating to protect it from stomach acid. Keep watching for more Resveratrol prostate cancer news and learn about other interesting phytochemicals.

For example, Resveratrol combines well with Green Tea extract among others, and it is this beneficial interaction or synergy that greatly amplifies its power to fight cancer, and many other diseases. Perhaps in the future, as we become more and more aware, we could help to eradicate this deadly disease by taking preventative steps, rather than looking for a cure.

Since the resveratrol and prostate cancer benefits are often not negligible with drinking red wine, it is recommended that a multi-vitamin supplement that contains this nutrient is the best way to consume it.

About the Author

If you take your resveratrol as part of a total supplement package you still get about 7 or 8 times as much as if you drank a glass of red, so you're way better taking the supplements than drinking red wine, unless you drink a whole lot of it. Find out more about The Cancer Cure/Resveratrol Link

What is the process to extract the resveratrol?

Tell me the steps and procedures to extract the resveratrol from fruits.. And also tell me from which fruits resveratrol getting extract..

A simple method for the quantitative extraction of resveratrol and its glycosides from grape berry skins has been developed. Optimal conditions for the extraction were investigated. Type of solvent, time, and temperature assayed influenced resveratrol and piceid yield. Adequate extraction was attained with ethanol/water (80:20 v/v) maintained at 60 °C for 30 min. Recovery (>96%) and reproducibility (6.83−15.13%) were satisfactory. After extraction, resveratrol and piceid isomers were quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to a ultraviolet−visible diode array detector.

Use Of resveratrol To Help Prevent Heart Disease

Grapevine, and several other plants, produce Resveratrol when injured or under attack by bacteria or other pathogens. It is also an antioxidant found in grapes, peanuts, grape juice, and certain berries. The fact that Resveratrol is present in red wines may help to explain the French Paradox.

In brief detail, the French Paradox is the observation that, despite have diets high in saturated fats, the French people have a fairly low occurrence of coronary heart disease. The French eat much greater amounts of the bad fats than Americans do. However, more Americans die every year because of heart disease than French people. One hypothesis to explain the variation is that the French people consume red wine on a regular basis (with meals, for example). And, being that Resveratrol is found in grapes, it is also found in red wine.

Studies at the Mayo Clinic suggest that the antioxidants found in red wine may help to protect the lining of blood vessels in your heart. Red wine antioxidants come in two main forms: flavonoids and nonflavonoids. Resveratrol is a nonflavonoids found in red wine that may prevent fatty blockages of arteries. Resveratrol may also be the key ingredient that prevents bad cholesterol.

When given to mice, Resveratrol appeared to protect them from diabetes and obesity; both being factors that lead to heart disease. Doctors do not intend to tell people to go out and start drinking alcohol because too much of it can obviously have adverse effects. One would also have to consume a great deal of wine to equal the studies of what was given to lab mice.

However, with physician approval, red wine consumption in moderation is fine. Adding grape juice to your diet would also be a suggested means of getting more Resveratrol into your system. You will get the same benefits from grape juice as you would with wine when it comes to Resveratrol.

High concentrations of the nutrient may also be found in Japanese Knotweed; which is sold as a supplement. If you do decide to add red wine to your daily regiment, please do so in moderation; and be sure to speak to your doctor about alcohol interaction with any prescription medications that you may be taking. Do the same if you wish to add any Resveratrol over the counter supplement.

Also do your own research so that you can see the benefits of this antioxidant/antibiotic for yourself. Resveratrol not only helps to prevent heart disease, but offers many other benefits as well: to include mental clarity and decreasing damage done by diabetes.

resveratrol - great dietary aid or waste of money?

If you are a wine drinker, you would have probably heard about the Resveratrol Secret. To people who have not heard about this before, you should know that resveratrol is a particularly powerful and healthy antioxidant found in grape skins and red wine. In this article, we will learn more about this and will give you ideas on how this product quickly removes fat.
The Resveratrol Secret started to unfold when people learned about the French anomaly. This ingredient became eminent when medical research supported its amazing effects in boosting our heart and liver conditions. We will find it in the skins of various fruits such as grapes and blueberries ; in red wine, nuts, and the Japanese knotweed which is the best source.
Together with Dr. Oz, they debated how this natural compound could basically do lots of wonders particularly as an anti-aging compound. It is typically found in red grapes, red wine, peanuts, and berries. High concentration of this antioxidant can be found on red wine and grapes. Research on the antioxidant has been done a few years back, but not till now, it is being promoted for many health purposes. Analysts found out through test tube and animal tests that this compound could basically trigger a longevity gene. Though it's not tested on humans yet, it is thought the same gene is present in us also. Resveratrol ultra is the compound that is's found in red wine that analysts think is in charge of the health benefits derived from red wine. Analysts began studying wine years back after the concept of the "French Paradox" was found. The "French Paradox" refers to the idea that French folk live longer and are healthier than Americans even though they drink a good deal of wine and eat greasy foods.
Over time, scientists discovered that it was actually the health advantages of the red wine that provided the healthy bodies and longer lives.
latterly, analysts have found that resveratrol is the compound that supplies the many health benefits found in red wine. It's found in the skin of red grapes and actually turns on a gene in our bodies that slows getting older.
On March 24th Dr Oz commended an anti-aging supplement called resveratrol. The "miracle" red wine tablet is said to expand human life expectancy by as much as 35 years. Found in red wine, grapes and peanuts, resveratrol has been found as the leading ingredient that makes these super foods so healthy.
In 2008, after a number of years of testing and studies, it was found that resveratrol ( the main constituent of red wine ) duplicated some of the benefits of caloric limitation ( including longevity and cancer prevention. )
